RE-OPENING DATE
The re-opening date and the day the new tier system and restrictions come into effect is Wednesday 2nd of December. This means shops, gyms and personal facilities can re-open from this date.
East Sussex will be in Tier 2 from Wednesday 2nd December
The Tier System
Summary

- Under all tiers, shops, gyms and personal facilities can reopen.
- Under Tier 1, bars, pubs and restaurants must be table service only. They can take orders until 10pm and must close by 11pm. Under tier 2, bars and pubs must close unless operating as restaurants. Under tier 3, hospitality is closed with the exception of takeaway, drive-through or deliveries.
- Under tiers 1 and 2, entertainment venues can open. Under tier 3, indoor venues must close.
- All businesses must abide by COVID regulations.

- The allocation of tiers is dependent on a number of factors, including each area’s case numbers, the reproduction rate – or R number – and the current and projected pressure on the NHS locally.
- Tier allocations will be reviewed every 14 days, and the regional approach will last until March
Tier 1: Medium
- Follow the rule of six if meeting indoors or outdoors
- Everyone who can work from home should do so
- Early years settings, schools, colleges and universities remain open.
- Hospitality venues must be table service only. They must stop taking orders at 10pm and must close by 11pm
- Retail can open
- Indoor leisure can open
- Entertainment venues can open under reduced capacity
- Personal care venues can open
- Walk or cycle if possible. Avoid travel into tier 3 areas unless necessary
- Accommodation can open
- Classes and organised adult sport can take place, but must follow rule of six indoors
Tier 2: High
- No household mixing indoors
- Rule of six will apply outdoors
- Everyone who can work from home should do so
- Early years settings, schools, colleges and universities remain open.
- Pubs must close unless operating as restaurants
- Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals. Last orders at 10pm and must close by 11pm
- Retail can open
- Indoor leisure can open
- Entertainment venues can open under reduced capacity
- Personal care venues can open
- Reduce number of journeys made where possible. Avoid travel into tier 3 areas unless necessary
- Accommodation can open
- Classes and organised adult sport can take place, but cannot take place indoors if there is any interaction between people from different households
Tier 3: Very High
- No household mixing indoors or outdoors in hospitality venues or private gardens
- Rule of six will apply in outdoor public spaces like parks
- Everyone who can work from home should do so
- Early years settings, schools, colleges and universities remain open.
- Hospitality is closed with the exception of sales by takeaway, drive-through or delivery
- Retail can open
- Indoor leisure can open
- Indoor venues closed
- Personal care venues can open
- Avoid traveling out of the area, other than where necessary (such as work, education, medical attention or caring)
- Accommodation is closed, with limited exceptions
- Classes and organised adult sport can take place, but people should avoid higher risk contact activity. Group exercise activities and sports indoors should not take place unless within a household or bubble.
