Chuck & Blade hits the ground floor running at The Beacon

After two years of trading upstairs, Chuck & Blade has thrown open its doors to shoppers and visitors in the busy retail area next to the escalators.

Restaurateur David Luck said that their first-floor site had been a good base to introduce themselves to diners of all ages. “We were new to the town, and we were keen to welcome people to our exciting range of culinary delights.

“After two years upstairs, we are ready to take up a more prominent position in the heart of the shopping area and welcome a host of new faces to our fantastic range of high-class burgers,” David explained.

New for August, Chuck & Blade is introducing Bare Bones Chicken Wings. This will be an online service (bareboneschicken.com) in Eastbourne, although on Wednesdays, diners can sample the Bare Bones experience in the restaurant at The Beacon.

For David and his business partner Alex Hatzidakis, the Eastbourne venue is their fifth eatery and their first venture outside Kent.

“We have fallen in love with Eastbourne,” David said. “We came here with pre-conceived ideas about what to expect, but we have been blown away by the welcome we have received.”

David and Alex first entered the fast-food arena during lock-down in 2020. They rented a pitch for a pop-up stand selling high-quality burgers in Kent. The reaction from the public was great and Chuck and Blade Burgers was born.

Beacon General Manager Mark Powell said the new site for Chuck & Blade would add even more vibrancy to the food offer in the shopping centre. “Some of our visitors pop in for a quick shop, while others like to browse around our ever-growing mix of retailers and pause for a coffee or a bite to eat.

“Chuck & Blade is a great addition to our ground floor food offer, and I know they will fit in brilliantly,” Mark added.
