Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant Presents Queen's Award to Event Agency

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for East Sussex, Mr Peter Field, presented the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade to Sussex's leading events agency, Identity, last week (October 15, 2020).

Identity’s managing director, Michael Gietzen, welcomed the Lord Lieutenant to the official, socially distanced, presentation ceremony at the company’s HQ in East Sussex. After expressing regret that they were unable to shake hands or have other guests at the ceremony, the Lord Lieutenant said: “Many, many congratulations. This award is considered the highest accolade to be bestowed upon a UK business and recognises Identity for having shown outstanding achievement in trade, innovation and sustainable development.”

The Lord Lieutenant also drew attention to Identity’s masterful delivery of some of the UK’s most high-profile events, to include the NATO Leaders Summit in December.

Accepting the Queen’s Award cut-glass rose bowl in recognition of Identity’s overwhelming global success, Mr Gietzen said: “I am delighted to welcome the Lord Lieutenant and to accept this most prestigious award on behalf of the Identity team.  Considering the turbulence created throughout the events industry by the Covid pandemic, it is an incredible boost to us all to receive this award.”

Michael explained how Identity has now been future proofed for the ‘new global normal’. He said: “The enforced pandemic lockdown presented Identity with an opportunity to completely transform and invest in an even more dynamic business model. With further investment, a strategic recruitment programme and a repositioning of our offering, Identity now provides a vastly enlarged creative and digital offering of live, virtual and hybrid events. This repositioning, as the first ever ‘human experience’ agency, has already borne fruit with some big wins for the agency.”

The Lord Lieutenant was given a tour of the 30,000 sq ft premises and met with some of the team prior to his departure.

Based in East Sussex, Identity was presented with the prestigious award for its ongoing success in delivering events in the UK and international markets. The agency’s 100-strong team of highly creative professionals continue to deliver exceptional events for world governments, leading brands and global blue chip companies.

Identity also achieved a ranking in the latest Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 table – the league table that ranks the top 100 British companies with the fastest growing sales. Identity has further offices Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.
