Help Us Abolish Slavery
December 2nd is International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, which marks the date of the 1949 adoption by the General Assembly of the United Nations Convention for the suppression of the traffic in people, the exploitation and prostitution of others.
The UK Government, with personal commitment from the Prime Minister, is committed to the eradication of all forms of modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking by 2030. The International Day for the Abolition of Slavery provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the atrocities of Modern Slavery, promote how incidents of Modern Slavery can be reported and outline ways that the Government is tackling this issue.
It is absolutely appalling that in the 21st Century people are being forced into slavery in East Sussex but we are afraid to have to report that they are, even in Eastbourne. With your help, we can spread this message far and wide so that you, your friends, your colleagues and your family can look out for the signs and take action.
